The Building

Built in 1885, and first used by Ewing & Sons Dry Goods Store, the
building has housed numerous businesses over the past century. These included an independent grocery, book store, shoe store and the offices and insurance business of former Speaker of the House, Rev. A. W. (Wally) Downer. The building under went extensive restoration in 2003, bringing back the original shop front, maple floors and trim work. It reopened as Clerkson's, a furniture and home decor store in December 2003.

The Maple Leaf Hall is one of the last remaining late 19th century dance and meeting halls in Collingwood. Built in 1886 the hall is located on the 2nd floor of 85 Hurontario Street. Over the years it was home to various groups and clubs including the Loyal Orange Lodge, and the Kiltie Band. The hall served as a union hall for the ship workers union until the shipyards closed in 1986. In the following years the hall remained dark and unused until its restoration in 2005. It is now home to the Fish Bowl Gallery and Studio.

The Bay School of Art opened in 2006 and holds art classes for children and adults.
